Broadcasting, presenting, reporting: everything Maartje van Weegen has done in her career has in some way been linked to the word and the art of storytelling. Frits van Oostrom receives the grande dame of Dutch radio and television at his talkshow table for a conversation about her profession, her passion for music and her most memorable moments.

About the speakers

Prof. Frits van Oostrom is a university professor in Utrecht. He is specialised in Dutch literature of the Middle Ages. In 1995 he won the Spinoza Prize for his scientific work. In 1996 his book Maerlants wereld (Maerlant's World) was awarded the AKO Literature Prize and in 2018 he received the Libris Geschiedenisprijs (history prize) for his book Nobel streven (Noble Ambition). Van Oostrom was co-curator of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2021.

Eva Saladin is a violinist. She studied with Kees Koelmans and Lucy van Dael at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and with Leila Schayegh and David Plantier at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where in 2013 she was awarded her masters diploma in Baroque violin summa cum laude. Saladin studies and experiments with historical playing techniques and styles, as well as with ornamentation and improvisation. She leads Ensemble Odyssee, based in Amsterdam, and is co-leader of both the Baroque orchestra La Cetra in Basel and Gli Angeli Genève. She also performs with ensembles such as Il Profondo and Profeti della Quinta. In addition, she is involved with the collective Studio 31 which performs Early Baroque and contemporary repertoires. Saladin was artist in residence of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2021.
