About this lecture

In this lecture Anne Smith examines performances of Renaissance music in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. How does this tradition affect the Early Music movement as we know it today? Smith argues that certain aspects of our historical performance practice of sixteenth-century repertoire have been indirectly influenced by the Cecilian movement and the Jugendmusikbewegung.
