About this concert
The sensational Sollazzo Ensemble gives us two concerts of unique Burgundian repertoire. The Leuven Song Book, only recently discovered and now in the safe hands of the Alamire Foundation, is a revelation: not only does it contain long-forgotten repertoire, but also an exquisite collection of late Burgundian polyphony. Nowhere is the sombre melancholy described by Huizinga more perfectly illustrated than in this chansonnier.

About the performers
The Sollazzo Ensemble, based in Basel, didn’t exist until 2014, but less than a year later won various prizes at the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, among them the audience prize. Directed by vielle player Anna Danilevskaia, the ensemble focuses on medieval repertoire, although the musicians have very different musical backgrounds – from early to contemporary music, and even musicals. In 2016 Sollazzo released its first CD on the Linn Records label.
