About this concert

There is always an opportunity to play some 15th-century music for lute duo and soprano. These three musicians bring popular dances, chansons and cantus firmi from Burgundian repertoire back to life: the echo of popular music practice from the era of the mighty House of Valois.

About the performers

Marc Lewon specializes in music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Having graduated cum laude in Musicology and German Studies in Heidelberg, he went on to study lute with Crawford Young in Basel. Lewon performs with various ensembles, and in 2008 founded his own ensemble Leones, with which he devises original programmes of medieval music. Lewon teaches at the Universities of Vienna and Heidelberg and, as of 2017, also the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
