About the performers
Exuberant fun, drive and musical craftsmanship are, according to critics, the strengths of gamba consort The Spirit of Gambo. Their repertoire comprises music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries by, among others, Dowland, Purcell and Bach. The ensemble is an initiative of Freek Borstlap and Gesina Liedmeier, and the other two regular players are Ivanka Neeleman and Thomas Baeté. The Spirit of Gambo plays on gambas built by Liedmeier especially for the ensemble. The Spirit of Gambo received the Diapason d'Or for the CD Jenkins consort music of four parts.
