About this concert

The Dutch fortepiano player Bart van Oort plays three of Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano sonatas, including the well-known ‘Moonlight Sonata’. This concert was recorded during the Utrecht Early Music Festival 2020.

About the performer

Bart van Oort won the Mozart Fortepiano Competition in Bruges in 1986, and in 1993 became Doctor of Musical Arts in Historical Performance Practice at Cornell University (USA). He plays in festivals and gives lectures, master classes and concerts all over the world. Bart van Oort teaches at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, where he has been a teacher of fortepiano and Historical Performance Practice since 1991. More than fifty of his CDs have been released since 1997, including The Art of the Nocturne in the Nineteenth Century (4 CDs), Complete works by Mozart for piano solo and piano four hands (14 CDs), and Complete Klavierstücke by Haydn (5 CDs). Beethoven's piano quartets will be released soon.
