About this concert
With four female singers and six traditional cantors from Croatia, this semi-staged performance explores the Dalmatian liturgical repertoire from Christmas to Easter. Latin and Slavic chants enter into dialogue and thus create a rich fresco of sound. For this mesmerizing mix of Gregorian and Glagolitic, Dialogos found the perfect partner in Joško Ćaleta and his ensemble Kantaduri.

About the performers
Directed by Katarina Livljanić, the vocal ensemble Dialogos has revealed itself to be one of the most outstanding and original medieval music ensembles of the new generation. Since 1997, the ensemble brings together singers and instrumentalists from different backgrounds and countries to revive European oral and written traditions, from the Middle Ages to the present day. It combines new musicological research with an innovative approach, which lends the repertoire a theatrical and expressive dimension. Dialogos has a particular interest for repertoires from the southern Slavic world and seeks to reveal the timeless beauty of stories that have crossed the centuries.
Croatian singer Katarina Livljanić is one of the foremost specialists in the field of the medieval song and plainchant performance. She studied singing and musicology in France. With her ensemble Dialogos she has created many different productions based around medieval chant and liturgical theatre, which have earned her international renown.
Vocal ensemble Kantaduri was formed in 2008, by the Croatian ethnomusicologist, composer, music pedagogue and conductor Joško Ćaleta. The ensemble gathers both professional musicians and people of other professionals in the field of klapa singing and related traditional music genres. Through the musical experience of common performing, Kantaduri searches for new challenges and expressions in presenting Croatian folk music heritage.
