About this concert

Very thorough attention to the text and how best to let it speak: that is what characterizes RossoPorpora. In this concert we eavesdrop at the door of a seventeenth-century study in Venice, where love letters are eagerly being jotted down while a breeze carries sounds of Claudio Monteverdi’s and Biagio Marini’s madrigals through the window… Musical stories of love, sensual kisses and lost hope.

About the performers

The Italian ensemble RossoPorpora was founded in 2010 by a group of young musicians and singers who wanted to give their own interpretation to the musical repertoire of the Late Renaissance and Baroque. The group pays a great deal of attention to the meaning and the verbal and musical aspects of the text. Since 2011 the ensemble has been led by singer and conductor Walter Testolin.
