About this concert

Josquin Desprez’s polyphony has for centuries been praised for its contrapuntal quality. But his music is so much more than that: with elegant melodies, bittersweet emotions and delicate harmonies, Josquin wishes above all to speak and to convince. Baritone Romain Bockler and lutenist Bor Zuljan underline the expressiveness of Josquin’s chansons with refined ornamentation and improvisation.

About the performers

Dulces Exuviae consists of the Slovenian lutenist Bor Zuljan and the French baritone Romain Bockler. Zuljan specializes in improvisation and playing techniques from the Renaissance. He is the artistic director of Flores Musicae, an early music festival in Slovenia, and regularly performs with Tasto Solo and graindelavoix. Bockler has sung with the Studio de l'Opéra in Lyon and with ensembles such as Le Poème Harmonique, Doulce Mémoire and Diabolus in Musica. On their first joint CD, Dulces Exuviae explores the intimacy of Josquin's chansons.
