About this concert

From the ancient sibyls to the medieval mystics, speaking, calling or singing prophets are a conduit between god and man. Tiburtina Ensemble – itself named after a Roman prophetess – combines songs in unison with polyphonic pieces by Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz. We hear a dream for the future that leads from Judgment Day to the Victory of the Lamb.

About the performers

The female vocal ensemble Tiburtina, based in Prague, is under the direction of Barbora Kabátková. The group was formed in 2008 by former members of the Schola Benedicta. Their repertoire consists primarily of Gregorian chant and medieval polyphony, but also features contemporary music. The Tiburtina Ensemble is especially interested in a correct declamation of text based on research into contemporaneous theory and musical practice.
