About this concert
Lesser-known work, unusual instrumentations, forgotten masters: these are things that excite Radio Antiqua. In this concert the ensemble combines trio sonatas by Giovanni Benedetto Platti – an Italian all-rounder working in Würzburg – with chamber music by Christoph Schaffrath, a German harpsichordist who moved in royal circles. The same freshness and elegance can be heard in the music of Telemann, whose trio sonata demonstrates how many colours can be created from a palette of just violin, recorder and basso continuo.

About the performers
Radio Antiqua was founded in The Hague in 2012. Aiming to honour its name, Radio Antiqua is constantly searching for heightened interaction and communication with its audiences, combining favourite tunes with obscure discoveries and revealing its distinctive sound through different channels. The ensemble is winner of the jury and public prizes at the International Händel Festspiele Göttingen Competition, Second Prize and Audience Prize at the International Van Wassenaer Competition 2016. Their second album, featuring sonatas by Giovanni Benedetto Platti, has been released on the Ramée label in 2019.
