About this concert
With late-medieval repertoire in the 'florid style' the Huelgas Ensemble taps into the core of English music tradition. An infinite number of twigs, leaves and buds spring from the melodies, together forming an ultra-refined complex. Ornamentation elevated to its essence: this euphonious but refined concert programme ranges from the iconic canon Sumer is icumen in to the Missa Ave Maria by Tudor composer Thomas Ashwell.
