About this concert

Johann Georg Pisendel was not only the most illustrious violinist of the early eighteenth century, but he was also the apple of Telemann's and Vivaldi's eye and the teacher of Benda and C.P.E. Bach. Pisendel specialist Javier Lupiáñez selects a number of violin sonatas that he himself rediscovered, mixing German, French and Italian styles with late Baroque and pre-Classical elements.

About the performers

Scaramuccia was founded on the initiative of violinist and musicologist Javier Lupiáñez. The ensemble made its debut in 2013 in the fringe series of the early music festivals of Bruges and Utrecht. Since then the ensemble has gained a considerable reputation within the European early music scene. Discovering unknown repertoire is an important spearhead. The CD with music by Pisendel, which was released at the end of 2020, received rave reviews, as had their previous two CDs.
