About this concert

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was not only a fabulous musician, but also a brilliant inventor. He laid the foundations of the form that would later develop into the German Lied. In his poetic miniatures the music tells its story with sophisticated accompaniment and word-sensitive melodies. Bass-baritone Stephan MacLeod and fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout are the dream ambassadors of this ground-breaking repertoire.

Furthermore, whether or not conducting from behind the keyboard, he is a regular guest with, among others, Les Arts Florissants, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.
