About this concert
When the eight-year-old Mozart travelled through London, he admired the charming music of Johann Christian Bach. The three concertos for piano and orchestra from K. 107 show Mozart’s efforts to make Bach’s style his own. They were originally piano sonatas by J.C. Bach, which the very young Mozart transformed into unique Bach/Mozart concertos by adding short interludes, a coda and orchestral accompaniment.

About the performers
The name of the orchestra Il Gardellino is derived from Vivaldi's concerto of the same name, in which he portrays the colourful goldfinch in music. Il Gardellino was founded in 1988 on the initiative of oboist Marcel Ponseele and flautist Jan De Winne. The orchestra does not limit itself to the big, well-known names and masterpieces, but also revives unknown repertoire.
Olga Pashchenko is a Russian pianist, organist, harpsichordist and fortepianist. She studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Alexei Lubimov, Olga Martynova and Alexei Shmitov. In 2013 and 2014 she rounded off her supplemental fortepiano and harpsichord studies with Richard Egarr. In 2013 she also launched her first solo CD of music by Beethoven, Dussek and Mendelssohn, followed by a stunning recording of Beethoven’s Variations for Piano. Pashchenko was artist in residence during the Early Music Festival of 2016.
