About this concert
As the brand-new organist of St.-Éloi in Rouen, Jacques Duphly was locked out of the choir loft by his disgruntled predecessor. This did not stop the teenager from building a top-quality career as a musician. Duphly's oeuvre, together with those of his contemporaries Balbastre and Foucquet, is sometimes dismissed as 'decadent', but Carole Cerasi proves that this description does not do justice to its elegance and sensitivity.
