About this concert

Whenever Eva Saladin drops by we roll out the red carpet. The Dutch violinist, in 2021 our artist in residence in Utrecht, dives into the legacy of the eighteenth-century Swiss silk manufacturer, amateur musician and collector, Lucas Sarasin. His collection of scores was lost, but the catalogue remained intact: the ideal guide for a Soirée Sarasin with galant sonatas by Locatelli, De Fesch, Benda and others.

About the performers

Eva Saladin is a violinist. She studied with Kees Koelmans and Lucy van Dael at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and with Leila Schayegh and David Plantier at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where in 2013 she was awarded her masters diploma in Baroque violin summa cum laude. Saladin studies and experiments with historical playing techniques and styles, as well as with ornamentation and improvisation. She leads Ensemble Odyssee, based in Amsterdam, and is co-leader of both the Baroque orchestra La Cetra in Basel and Gli Angeli Genève. She also performs with ensembles such as Il Profondo and Profeti della Quinta. In addition, she is involved with the collective Studio 31 which performs Early Baroque and contemporary repertoires. Saladin was artist in residence of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2021.

After studying modern cello, Daniel Rosin went on to specialise in historical performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, with Christophe Coin, among others. He has a penchant for playing live concerts, in which the interplay of all those present can be elevated to an art form at the right moment. As a teacher and researcher, he also devotes himself to gathering and preserving knowledge of early music culture.

Johannes Keller studied harpsichord, basso continuo and ensemble conducting at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He is co-founder of Ensemble Il Profondo and of Duo L'Istante. Keller performs with ensembles including La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Venice Baroque Orchestra and Les Siècles, and has been a guest of the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. Since 2013, Keller has taught intonation and tuning at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
