About this concert
The music of the ars subtilior was so delicate, complex and innovative that it could not be contained in existing notation systems. So to the drawing board, thought the author of Tractatus figurarum, and set the outlines of a music notation for the new era. Sollazzo Ensemble finds itself at the juncture between practice and theory and recreates one of the most fascinating chapters in the history of music.

About the performers
The Basel-based Sollazzo Ensemble had only existed since 2014 when less than a year later it had already won several prizes in the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition. The ensemble led by vielle player Anna Danilevskaia focuses on medieval repertoire, although the musicians come from a variety of musical backgrounds - from early to contemporary music and even musicals.
