About this concert

The Dutch Castello Consort's star is rising fast. In this concert, they bring the stylus phantasticus to life, the signature style of composers such as Rosenmüller, Biber, Castello and Marini, who redrew the chalk lines of the Baroque by means of experimentation, harmonic freedom, extreme contrasts and unabashed expressivity. The musicians also collaborated with Dutch composer Martijn Padding, who wrote, especially for them, new pieces inspired by the old style.

About the performers

The Dutch Castello Consort has a passion for music from the Renaissance and Early Baroque periods. The musicians are characterized by their lilting, expressive sound and harmonious interplay. The basis of the ensemble is formed by Elise Dupont (violin), Matthijs van der Moolen (sackbut) and Anne-Linde Visser (bass violin, cello and viola da gamba), but guest musicians join each programme. In their search for new timbres Castello Consort had a transportable pipe organ built by organ builders Reil.
