About this concert

Flanked by harp and harmonium, Ars Choralis Coeln delves into the Gregorian hype of late nineteenth and twentieth-century France. At the source of this craze lay the creative reinterpretation of the unison repertoire by the Benedictine monks of Solesmes, who endeared the music to a mass audience. Composers such as Vincent d'Indy, Jean-Marie Plum and Pierre Benoit turned the kaleidoscope up a notch in their neo-Roman hymns.
