About the performers

The members of Memor met while studying medieval music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. As students, they devoted themselves to music from different eras, but were particularly attracted to the vocal repertoire of the Middle Ages. They aim to approach this music, which usually has no fixed rhythm, flexibly and spontaneously, following the emotion of the text and the line of the music so that each performance is unique. The name Memor (‘remember, commemorate’) reflects both a generous way of being in the world, and the mission to give new breath to the medieval repertoire.
