About this concert

Sometimes time sheds new light on old stories. That of Quintus Horatius Flaccus, for instance, one of the most important authors in the time of Emperor Augustus. His odes tell of bloodshed and death, but also of love and fortune. Only recently did researchers discover that he may have sung and accompanied the poetry himself. Per-Sonat follows in Horace's footsteps by means of medieval manuscripts celebrating his glorious verses.

About the performers

The ensemble Per-Sonat, founded in 2008 by mezzo-soprano Sabine Lutzenburger, specialises in the Medieval and Early Renaissance. The size of the ensemble varies between two and eight musicians, depending on the project concerned. In their programmes, Per-Sonat focuses, on the one hand, on a scientifically underpinned interpretation and, on the other, on an exciting and vital presentation of medieval texts using historical playing techniques and improvisation.
