About the performers

Duo Minoriten consists of violinist Minori Deguchi and theorbist Asako Ueda. They met while studying at Toho Gakuen University of Music in Tokyo. After graduating, they officially formed Duo Minoriten in The Hague in 2020. The ensemble's name was inspired by manuscript XIV 726, which is in the collection of the Minorite Monastery in Vienna. This manuscript contains numerous compositions for violin and basso continuo, which caught the duo's attention and formed the starting point of the ensemble. They were honoured to perform concerts in Tokyo, Takamatsu Early Music Festival and Lyon in 2023, and were also selected as ‘Artist in Residence’ at Schloss Weißenbrunn in 2024.
