About the performers

Founded during its members' time at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, BREZZA is a versatile ensemble specialising in historically informed performances of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music. The combination of three instruments (viola da gamba, traverso and harpsichord) plays a crucial role. This includes the entire repertoire for flute and basso continuo, trio sonatas and arrangements made by them. The use of original instruments or their replicas and a thorough study of performance practice using various treatises and sources are ingredients for BREZZA's main goal: to achieve a performance of the repertoire as close as possible to each composer's original conception.
