About the performers
The three friends of Trio Aido met at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. They currently focus on Italian, Spanish and Flemish Renaissance music, and Italian Baroque music for lute, guitar and voice in a historically informed manner. The word Aido means ‘singing’ in ancient Greek. The instrumental imitation of singing was an important part of Renaissance and Baroque music. Trio Aido underlines this approach, seeing singing as the most important form of expression of the human race. The trio also experiments with contemporary techniques to provide audiences with a fresh and engaging musical experience.
