About this concert

Butterflies in the stomach, clammy hands and groundbreaking performances: the tension rises during the denouement of the International Van Wassenaer Competition. Who will walk off with the winnings? Three young early music ensembles compete for the prize pool: various sums of money, masterclass vouchers and a concert tour in the Festival Oude Muziek Tournees.

Murders, drinking songs, fairy tales, serene polyphony and candlelit rituals... All these are part of Apollo's Cabinet's narrative concert programmes. The group, whose previous awards include the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble prize, Göttingen Handel Competition and the International Biber Competition, presents historical performances topped with a unique and distinctive sauce of acting, dance, poetry and drama.
