About this concert
Around 1300, an anonymous compiler collected music that was already falling out of fashion: monophonic trouvère songs and troubadour poetry in Frenchified Occitan. Le Miroir de Musique became fascinated by the enigmatic Chansonnier du Roi: a privileged witness of cultural exchange between North and South, filled with sacred and secular repertoire. With ars antiqua motets, chansons, and instrumental pieces, Baptiste Romain and his ensemble open a sonic window into this museum without walls.
