About this concert
18th-century London was a true magnet for talented musicians – including composer Carl Philipp Stamitz. His trios are prime examples of the galant style: natural and accessible. The musicians of the Spanish baroque ensemble L'Apothéose, one of the discoveries of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2024, play their favourite trios, in which traverso and violin enter into an elegant dialogue. The cello is also allowed to shine as a solo instrument now and then. Who leads and who follows? Those are the stakes of Stamitz's delightful joust!
