About this concert

The self-proclaimed rats of the early music world make a case for Josquin Baston, a Flemish polyphonist who made a career at Danish, Swedish, German and Austrian courts. In addition to instrumental works, motets and chansons, the musicians will perform polyphonic Dutch songs by this unknown master. If you prick up your ears you will immediately understand why the ensemble has recently also devoted a recording to the astonishing Baston.

About the performers

Ratas del viejo Mundo is an early music collective founded by lutenist Floris De Rycker. The musicians find liberty within an exceptionally sensual musical idiom, comparing period instrumental arrangements with partbooks for the same music. In addition to consulting early repertoire transmitted in print or manuscript, Ratas del viejo Mundo also draws on the wealth of traditional, folk, ethnic, anonymous, oral traditions in its performances and recordings.
