About this concert
Spicy gingerbread, warm wine, thousands of lights and almost as many gifts: lovely! But it won’t really be Christmas without the magnificent seasonal classics, with just the right dose of poignancy and shouts of joy. As one of the best university choirs in the world, the Choir of Clare College Cambridge is the ideal mood creator for the most beautiful time of the year. Between stillness and revelry, the singers curate the ultimate end-of-year soundtrack with age-old traditionals, festive polyphony and English choral classics from past and present.

About the performers
2022 was not just any old year for the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge. With exactly half a century on the clock, the university choir celebrated a real milestone in its already impressive history. The path paved by conductors such as John Rutter and Timothy Brown has been successfully trodden by music director Graham Ross since 2010. In addition to gracing church services in the college chapel, the choir focuses on recordings on the Harmonia Mundi label and concert tours, which take them to the most prestigious venues. Numerous figures from the past, including John Tavener and Herbert Howells, appear as commissioned composers. With tradition and 'thrills' at the heart of the interpretation, the collective gets under your skin time and again to leave behind an unforgettable listening experience.
