About this concert

Butterflies in the stomach, clammy hands and groundbreaking performances: the tension rises during the denouement of the International Van Wassenaer Competition. Who will walk off with the winnings? Four young early music ensembles compete for the prize pool: various sums of money, masterclass vouchers and a concert tour in the Festival Oude Muziek Tournees.

Liane Sadler en Elias Conrad ontmoetten elkaar aan de Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Ze zijn gefascineerd door de unieke klankwereld van de renaissance en vroegbarok, vooral het repertoire dat traverso combineert met renaissanceluit, theorbe, gitaar of vihuela. Deze bezetting biedt een unieke breedte en diepte van kleur en dynamiek, waardoor een intieme en complexe muzikale ervaring ontstaat. Het duo richt zich zowel op pure instrumentale muziek als instrumentale arrangementen van vocale muziek, die bijvoorbeeld worden verrijkt met diminuties en geïmproviseerde versieringen in historische stijl.
