About this concert
Everything has its own time. Except for the music of William Byrd: a man for all seasons! The Lyons Mouth follows him through the liturgical year, from Advent to Advent, through feast days, Lent, and everything in between. Latin motets such as the poignant Vide Domine – written in a time of religious friction – form the core, while English madrigals and motets complement Byrd's image. A kaleidoscope of genres, atmospheres, and languages, carried by five young voices that fill the year with song.

The Lyons Mouth is a vocal ensemble comprising young professional singers who trained at the University of York. Since their formation in 2022, they have drawn on their experience from leading vocal ensembles across Europe and the United Kingdom. They focus on conveying emotional depth and telling dramatic stories through their performances. Their mission is to fully immerse the audience in the heart of the music.
